Girl, Girl, Girl

My life is messed up.
It feels as if chaos surrounds me.
However, some things I take comfort in, as follows.
-My friends to keep me sane.
-My friends to sometimes drive me insane.
-My mind always spinning.
-My heart always yearning.
-The comfort of my own home.
-The calming feeling of music blaring in my ears.
-The relief that only slugging baseballs give me.
-The constant connections via text messages.
-The summer night drives with the windows down and the music up.
Over all, I am a lucky girl.
I am young, and I have a long life ahead of me to look forward to.
I try to take everything in stride, and keep up with what is going on around me.
Forgive me if I fail once in a while.
I am only human.
Essentially, I'm just a girl.

Summer Skin

My face is burnt.
My legs are burnt.
My back is burnt.
My arms are tan.
My eyes look bluer than they really are.
This is the epitome of perfection for summer skin.

New people, new places, new things.
My friends and I, on the floor playing Kings.
It feels as if my breathing could lapse
My head spins, I am about to collapse.
I have drank too much.
So much that I can't feel your touch.
I stumble off to bed.
My brain feels...like it might be dead.
